Carapichaima Senior Comprehensive School, located at McLeod Trace, Freeport, started in the year 1979 at the Marabella Senior Comprehensive School on a shift system. Carapichaima Senior Comprehensive School opened its doors in the Caroni district in the year 1980. The intake of the students came from the surrounding Junior Secondary Schools into
Form 4. The population at that time was approximately 1500 students until 2005.

The name of the School changed to Carapichaima East Secondary School in 2005 when Form I student intake took place. Carapichaima East now became a seven-year high school with a smaller population. The school eventually became an all-boys school for Form 1 to 5 students. After realising that this was a mistake, the Ministry of Education reverted to a co-ed school in 2013.

The school offers a diverse Curriculum to fit the needs of the students. Over the years, CAPS excelled both academically and in co and extra-curricular activities. Many great minds have graced these walls (Doctors, Lawyers, Teachers, Councillor, M.P., Business men and women, Engineers, carpenters, masons, plumbers, contractors and sports personalities). Some have excelled in the field of Academic and Research and are Lecturers at American Universities
